Liberty is small and rural — much of the land is federal/state forest, which limits privately held property. Probate filings go to the Liberty County Clerk in Bristol under the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Circuit judges based in Tallahassee.

Cross-river estates are common. Many Liberty residents work and bank in Calhoun or Gadsden, so estates often span multiple counties. The clerk staff is tiny and filings are very personal — expect call-ahead service and direct conversation.

No in-county hospital — Calhoun Liberty Hospital across the Apalachicola River in Blountstown is the nearest acute-care facility.
